Visual identity and festival design for Oktoberfest
This is a self-initiated, hypothetical project exploring Oktoberfest—the world's largest Volksfest, featuring a beer festival and a traveling carnival. It is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
It was first held on October 12, 1810, when the entire town was invited to celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese.

Our Mission
A 16 day celebration to honor the
Prince Ludwig and Therese of
Saxe-Hildburghausen
Our Vision
To promote Germany's culture and the craft of traditional beer making

Concept Note
“Nazi leadership used Fraktur, an archetypal variety of blackletter, as their official typeface. They positioned it as a symbol of German national identity”
The Fraktur font used in the logo reflects the traditional Bavarian origin.
Using the Gestalt’s principle of Closure, the placement of the alphabets are made to form a rhombus/diamond, a key component of the Bavarian flag.
The logo is an amalgamation of Bavarian traditions and fun in a contemporary sense.

Visual Element
The visual elements created are
an extension of the font Backyard
Black Personal.
The alphabet is reflected and then
repeated in all four quadrants to
form a motif. This is then
repeated seamlessly.
Therefore there can be a minimum
of 26 different patterns made of
the 26 alphabets which can be
used across various collaterals

Packaging
The six Munich breweries are Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr,
Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, and Spaten
Marzen, the Oktoberfest beer is sold to
the visitors of the fest as souvenirs.
Only beer from Munich breweries are
served on the Wiesn, as custom dictates.
The six alphabets of “Marzen” are used
to make patterns for the six different beer variation manufactured by the six
Munich breweries

Collaterals
A wide range of collaterals are curated for the
people of the festival.
Print collaterals includes tickets, menu, posters and a brochure featuring the map of the Theresienwiese, the ground where the fest is conducted annually.
The tent neccessities like steins, beer taps, coasters, barrel, beer carrier are also planned.
Whereas the merch includes wristbands, t-shirts, bandanas, picnic blankets, take away bags, tote bags, enamel pins and ID cards.
Signage and wayfinding system including banners, flags, wayfinding
boards, were also designed.
